Description
Two distinct, ambitious councils – one ambitious Deputy Chief Executive.
Situated in beautiful Worcestershire, Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Councils are neighbouring authorities, both with big ambitions for their respective communities. Serving a combined population of c.182,000, each Council has their own unique demographics, resident needs, and plans for the future. From Arrow Valley Country Park, Forge Mill Museum and the Grade II listed Palace Theatre in Redditch, to the Clent Hills National Trust woodland, Sanders Park and Aztec Adventure in Bromsgrove, there is much to enjoy for those who live, work and visit here.
Sharing a management structure, Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils are separate sovereign authorities, with distinct corporate objectives, political priorities and organisational needs. Following a recent restructure, both authorities now seek a Deputy Chief Executive (S151 Officer) to take both organisations to the next level. As community-driven organisations, those who can translate strategic vision into deliverables that truly impact residents, will thrive here.
Working closely with our new Chief Executive, you will play a critical role for our organisations, understanding our individual ambitions, whilst also drawing commonalities and shared resources to deliver. We will be looking for you to demonstrate your ability to balance robust budgets, whilst also safeguarding our essential community services in this continuing challenging financial landscape. We are therefore looking for a serving S151 Officer, or an experienced Deputy S151 looking to take on a role at this level for the first time.
Now is an exciting time to join us; with a new Government administration, talk of devolution on the table, and revised Council plans to deliver, there is a lot to be getting involved with here. Holding responsibility for all financial, legal, democratic, customer services, digital and transformation services, we are seeking a corporate strategic leader that holds the innate ability to empower and develop a diverse group of professionals for the greater good of our authorities. Just as important as your professional skills will be your inherent ability to engage colleagues across all levels of our organisations, particularly Elected Members, whilst also working intrinsically with external colleagues across the districts/boroughs and in a wider regional and national context.
This is a rewarding opportunity to join us and showcase your talent, compassion and determination to deliver excellent services for the communities of Bromsgrove & Redditch. If you see yourself as our next Deputy Chief Executive (S151 Officer), we would be delighted to hear from you!
